I am a retired machinist who has been doing wood carving and wood turning for many years. Working with different woods, stains, and finishes is something that I enjoy. Each variety of wood has its own unique grain pattern, color, density, and hardness. I use various kinds of wood such as cherry, fruitwood, walnut, oak, and basswood. My pieces are either stained, painted, or left natural with an oil finish. I do a variety of work which includes carving animals, making wood bowls, doing ornamental wood turnings, and building small tables. I am a member of the Jefferson County Art Guild and display my pieces locally. Wood working has been a fulfilling and enjoyable hobby of mine.
